Ingrid Mhlari’s inspiring journey stands as a powerful narrative of resilience, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to self-acceptance. As a 31-year-old model and entertainer from Nkowankowa, Ingrid has risen to prominence in the modelling industry, specifically as a celebrated plus-size model who advocates for body positivity. She recently earned the title of Face of Neo M Global 2nd Princess, marking a significant milestone in her career as an international icon.
Ingrid’s academic and artistic pursuits have been as remarkable as her modelling journey. With a BA in Communication Studies and high distinctions in Acting from the University of Limpopo, she gained acclaim early on, finishing as the 2nd Best Performing Arts Learner in 2013. Her college years were marked by titles like Miss Suid Jolyt Queen and Best Suid Jolyt Actress, and she even took on leadership roles as a Prefect at Meridian Phalaborwa and Lowveld Academy, where she also won the title of Miss Lowveld Academy 1st Princess.
Her achievements in pageantry are vast, including titles like Miss Destiny Queen (2016), Miss Cultural Heritage Limpopo Thick Madam (2017), and Miss Glamorous South Africa (2017). She has also excelled in talent competitions, earning 2nd Best Talent at Polokwane Got Talent in 2017, and recently capturing titles from Miss Burgersdorp, Miss Mopani District, and Miss Exclusive Limpopo.
Ingrid’s path to success, however, has not been without challenges. She lost in 12 pageants before her breakthrough, yet her determination led her to amass 25 modelling titles and six talent awards. Financial constraints did not deter her from competing on the global stage; instead, she creatively raised funds by performing in restaurants and collecting scrap metal. After her recent wins, she gave back to her community by donating food to a local creche and inspiring youth through motivational talks.
As Ingrid continues her journey, her next goal is to compete in international pageants, where she aims to further her message of self-empowerment and positivity. Her story is a testament to her belief in embracing dreams despite the odds, and she remains a beacon of hope for young people aiming to overcome their own challenges.
