Nkowankowa – Sister Nomvula Mushwana, a respected healthcare professional and clinic owner, has been recognised as one of the sponsors of the Nkowankowa Community Games, reaffirming her commitment to both community wellness and local development.
Sister Mushwana previously served in the public health sector before transitioning into private practice. In 2020, she established her own clinic in Nkowankowa Section B, with the objective of improving access to quality and comprehensive primary healthcare services for the local community.
Her clinic provides a wide range of medical services, including the resuscitation and short-term admission of acute patients for periods of four to five days. These services support patients living with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and other acute and chronic illnesses.
The facility further offers chronic medication management, cancer screening, HIV and AIDS screening and treatment, men’s health and women’s health services, medical male circumcision, treatment of minor ailments, antenatal care, wellness programmes, and family planning services. In addition, the clinic provides hemodialysis filtration services for patients living with chronic renal failure, expanding access to specialised care within Nkowankowa.
By supporting the Nkowankowa Community Games, Sister Mushwana has demonstrated that healthcare professionals can play a meaningful role beyond clinical settings by contributing to social cohesion, youth development, and healthy lifestyles through sport.
Her contribution highlights the importance of partnerships between community initiatives and local professionals in building a healthier, more resilient Nkowankowa.
