Mapitlula’s musical journey began in 1988, when the late Peta Teanet, an influential South African musician, recognized her talent while she sang in her church choir. Despite her shy nature, Teanet saw her potential and invited her to Johannesburg to join him in recording his debut album. This trip marked the start of a remarkable career for Vuyelwa.
